Function in a senior management role as a direct report to the CEO/President of Hunt Family Office Company. Perform leadership responsibilities as the senior tax advisor to Lamar Hunt . Represent family in all IRS audit matters. Supervise all federal, state and international tax planning and audits. Supervise family's trust, estate tax, wealth preservation and business valuation planning. Advise on domestic and offshore hedge fund management and investment fund management. Senior team member assisting Hunt Family with evaluation of hedge fund investments, private equity investments and entrepreneurial opportunities. Expert in taxation matters concerning securities trading and investments.  Expert in taxation of professional sports teams. Expert in international taxation. 

The family’s diversified management team directs various sports and investment entities encompassing a NASD registered broker-dealer, offshore hedge fund management (over $1 billion of outside investor capital), venture capital fund management, and ownership interests in several professional sports organizations (including the Hunt family’s ownership interests in the Kansas City Chiefs [NFL], Chicago Bulls [NBA], Kansas City Wizards [MLS] and Columbus Crew [MLS] professional sports franchises).

 Santa Fe International Corporation (NYSE), Dallas, TX

Western Hemisphere oil production, oil tanker operations and worldwide drilling operations.

 Vice President – Tax

Responsible for all aspects of federal, state and international tax. Company operated internationally in over 20 countries. Although Santa Fe International was headquartered in Dallas the company was Kuwait owned with main operations based in Aberdeen, Scotland.  Developed tax audit strategies for closing IRS audits covering 12 open tax years.  Supervised outside law firms in successful U.S. Tax Court litigation. Supervised tax staff of 12 in Dallas and Los Angeles; provided transaction structuring advice on all merger & acquisition transactions; responsible for GAAP reporting of income taxes in annual report and prospectus.

Developed cornerstone structure allowing Santa Fe International to reorganize from a privately held US domestic corporation to a publicly held Cayman corporation. The most significant ramification of the restructuring was to move the company’s significant UK drilling operations out from under the old U.S. parent to a new Swiss company under the new Cayman parent. Structure reduced company’s global effective tax rate from 40 percent to 15 percent by permanently eliminating UK withholding tax and reducing US subpart F income on foreign operations.
